The Air Import Gateway Agent is responsible for the timely and cost-effective movement of international air import freight managed by the Air Gateway department, as directed by the Supervisor and/or Manager. This role is responsible for the processing of MAWB consolidations, designated trade lanes, and all aspects of the air import process from flight arrival through cargo recovery, deconsolidation, and final distribution.
The position requires operational experience within the airfreight industry, including but not limited to prior experience with airlines, ground handling agents (GHA), warehousing, customs-related processes, freight forwarding, or Air Import Gateway operations. The Air Import Gateway Agent works closely with carriers, warehouses, customs brokers, truck dispatchers, and operational teams to ensure efficient cargo movement, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service.
How you create impact
- Provide excellent customer service and an ongoing commitment to quality and data integrity.
- Prepare, handle, and process documentation required for air import consolidations and shipments.
- Coordinate and collaborate closely with air export departments, overseas offices, warehouse teams, and customs brokerage partners.
- Monitor inbound flight activity and ensure timely cargo recovery and deconsolidation.
- Coordinate delivery appointments and transportation arrangements to facilitate cargo distribution.
- Track and trace shipments; monitor carrier and vendor performance; address and resolve service irregularities.
- Ensure timely processing of arrival notices, import documentation, and customer communications.
- Contribute to maintaining strong relationships with carriers, vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain compliance standards at all times, including internal policies and procedures, external government regulations, TSA requirements, CBP requirements, and customer requirements.
- Meet key performance indicators (KPIs) to support department, branch, product, and company goals.
- Responsible for daily updating and monitoring of reporting tools and shipment milestones.
- Understand department process flow and continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service levels.
- Support pricing and commercial teams with import-related rate quotes and operational guidance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Experience in freight forwarding, airline operations, gateway operations, warehousing, or related logistics functions is preferred.

Base wage is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes health and welfare benefits, a 401k retirement savings plan, tuition reimbursement, and incentive compensation for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
