The External Customs Specialist is responsible for managing stand-alone/brokerage only customs operations on behalf of clients, ensuring efficient and compliant customs clearances.
How you create impact
- Manage and coordinate customs process end2end, working closely with internal stakeholders, logistics providers and clients to ensure smooth operations and quick resolutions to any issues that may arise.
- Ensuring highest productivity levels tasked with actively driving continuous improvement programs for benefiting KN and customers
- Customer-Focused Service: Maintain a high level of customer service, understanding the importance of customs operations in the overall supply chain; Work towards achieving and exceeding client service expectations by providing timely and accurate customs support, ensuring smooth logistics operations.
- Regulatory Expertise and Compliance Monitoring: Stay abreast of changes in import/export laws and regulations, ensuring clients remain compliant with evolving requirements; Provide updates and advice to clients on regulatory changes that may impact their shipments or business operations, helping them to remain proactive and compliant.
- Operational Coordination and Problem Solving: Coordinate with logistics teams, freight forwarders, and other business operations to ensure goods are cleared through customs efficiently and delivered to clients on time; Proactively identify and resolve any potential customs-related issues, minimizing disruptions to client operations and logistics flows.
- Customer and Sales Support
- Provide feedback to account managers and sales teams regarding any recurring issues that impact service quality or customer relationships.
- Work closely with sales and account management to address customer concerns and ensure a high level of satisfaction. - Customs Documentation and Compliance: Request and compile necessary customs documentation, including customs invoices, certificates of origin, and cargo-control documents, ensuring all paperwork is accurate and complete; Verify that all customs documentation complies with current laws and regulations to prevent delays or issues during the customs clearance process.
- Client Support and Advisory: Act as the primary customs liaison for external clients, providing guidance and support throughout the customs process; Advise clients and the Customs Manager on import and export restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements, quotas, and other customs-related matters, helping to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
