Job Description
Software Engineer

It's more than a job

In this IT role, you will manage, develop, and support the technology infrastructure that powers Kuehne+Nagel’s global systems and operations. This contribution is vital to making both special and ordinary moments in the lives of people a reality. In fact, your work enables our teams to deliver fresh fruit, time-sensitive healthcare products and much more to people all around the world. Working in IT at Kuehne+Nagel contributes to more than we imagine.

Be a part of a LogTech Innovation team, which actively participates in the digital transformation of Kuehne+Nagel using AWS cloud. In our team, we are currently working on two key initiatives focused on transportation risks and dynamic transportation optimization. These solutions are designed to enhance the way we plan, monitor, and continuously improve logistics operations for our customers.

As a Software Engineer, you will develop digital products that bring additional value to our customers and partners. You will work on solutions that manage transportation risks for our customers, helping to improve visibility and decision‑making across the logistics chain, as well as on projects that optimize transportation processes to increase efficiency and ensure smoother, more reliable shipment flows.

How you create impact

  • Design and develop digital products built with Kotlin, Spring Boot/Quarkus, and Angular, serverless on AWS.
  • Understand business requirements and translate them into working software solutions.
  • Cooperate with product owners, business experts, and data specialists.
  • Work across multiple initiatives in a collaborative, non-siloed environment.
  • Be part of the entire product lifecycle – from ideation through specification, prototyping, integration, and maintenance.
  • Bring modern technologies to life on top of an existing application landscape.
  • Contribute to and improve the information architecture of the Kuehne+Nagel enterprise.

What we would like you to bring

  • Proficiency in Java (Kotlin preferred) is required; Python is a plus.
  • Experience in front-end development with modern frameworks (Angular preferred).
  • Experience in cloud development (AWS preferred, GCP/Azure as a plus).
  • Background in developing microservices, using Docker and SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • DevOps and CI/CD mindset with proficiency in Git; experience with GitLab is an advantage. We follow the “You Build It, You Own It” approach.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles (e.g., SOLID).
  • Ability to learn quickly and solve complex problems independently.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
