How you create impact

As a Sea Logistics Operational Care Specialist, Import, you will support day-to-day import operations within the Operational Care Center. This role is focused on shipment visibility, file accuracy, documentation follow-up, internal customer support, and proactive communication. You will help identify and resolve issues that may impact shipment movement or customer commitments.

 

You will work closely with Customer Care Locations, internal operations teams, carriers, and system/process teams to ensure shipment data is accurate, updates are completed timely, and operational workflows are followed.

 

• Monitor shipment status and follow up on missing information, delays, exceptions, or documentation issues
• Maintain accurate shipment and customer data in internal operating systems
• Respond to internal customer inquiries and requests through email, phone, and system updates
• Support Customer Care Locations with shipment updates, customer commitments, and issue follow-up
• Communicate clearly with internal teams, customers, carriers, and other stakeholders
• Review shipment trends and recurring issues to help identify corrective or preventive actions
• Support process accuracy, automation, and continuous improvement within Operational Care workflows

What we would like you to bring

We are looking for someone with logistics, transportation, import/export, or shipment coordination experience who can communicate clearly, follow up with urgency, and keep information accurate in a fast-paced operational environment. This role requires someone who is comfortable working through email, systems, and phone communication while staying organized and detail-focused.

 

• 1+ year of experience in freight forwarding, import/export, logistics, transportation, shipment coordination, or related operational support
• Experience with shipment tracking, documentation, dispatch, carrier communication, order fulfillment, or issue follow-up preferred
• Customer service, customer support, or internal stakeholder support experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and follow-up skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency and accuracy
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, email-heavy environment while also being willing to pick up the phone when needed
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate system updates

This position is based onsite in Detroit, MI. The role is onsite for the first 90 days. After the probationary period, the schedule is 4 days onsite and 1 day remote.

 

This position is targeted to start around $50,000 annually, with limited flexibility. Individual pay may vary based on experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and business considerations. Kuehne+Nagel reviews pay ranges regularly to support competitive and fair pay based on market data.

 

This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
