As an Infrastructure Engineer (m/f/d) in Global Data Center Operations, you will help build, operate, and enhance the technology platforms that support Kuehne+Nagel’s global business. Working with experienced engineers, you will contribute to infrastructure services across compute, virtualization, storage, backup, and hybrid cloud environments. We are looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex problems, automating repetitive tasks, learning new technologies, and continuously improving platforms and operations. While experience with our full technology stack is not required, we value curiosity, adaptability, and a strong engineering mindset.
How you create impact
- Design, operate, and optimize infrastructure platforms across global data centers and hybrid environments.
- Support compute, virtualization, storage, backup, and platform services used by teams worldwide.
- Participate in infrastructure modernization initiatives, including migrations, upgrades, and service improvements.
- Build and enhance automation using scripting, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and modern engineering practices.
- Improve platform reliability, performance, scalability, and overall operational excellence.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing remediation.
- Collaborate with platform, cloud, security, and application teams while contributing to standards, documentation, and operational best practices.
- Support a follow-the-sun operating model and participate in on-call rotations.
What we would like you to bring
- Experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, platform or cloud operations, or a related field.
- Hands-on expertise with one or more of the following: virtualization, Linux/Windows Server administration, storage and data management, backup and recovery, networking, public cloud platforms, or infrastructure automation.
- Basic scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar tools.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively in global, cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English.
- Experience with platforms and technologies such as VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V, OpenShift, Kubernetes, cloud-native platforms, or enterprise storage solutions.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible, Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Familiarity with high availability, disaster recovery, resilient system design, and enterprise infrastructure technologies such as Dell, HPE, Lenovo, NetApp, Pure Storage, Brocade, StorageGRID, Commvault, or similar solutions.
