The Vessel Operator will be responsible for the Voyage Management of the chartered in fleet for the Tangguh UCC project. This role covers multipurpose vessels, LCT (Landing Craft Tank), breakbulk, and heavy-lift/OOG cargo, ensuring safe, cost-efficient, and compliant movement of project cargo. This position requires strong operational execution capability, marine regulatory understanding, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders including port authorities, stevedores, vessel owners, bunker providers, vessel agents, internal and external project teams.
How you create impact
- Coordinate and manage daily vessel activities including berthing, loading, discharge, and port clearance.
- Liaise with international port agents, terminal operators, and stevedoring teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Ensure cargo handling procedures are followed for breakbulk, heavy-lift, and OOG cargo.
- Prepare operational plans and requirements ahead of vessel arrival, including equipment, manpower, and safety needs.
- Manage voyage operations, including scheduling, monitoring progress, and reporting deviations.
- Use voyage management software for tracking, documentation, and reporting.
- Provide timely updates to internal teams, including reporting obligations to JGC project teams.
- Oversee cargo documentation, cargo declaration, and relevant marine/port regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all operations comply with marine regulations, HSE standards, and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with customs or regulatory authorities when required.
- Manage vendor coordination including stevedores, bunker providers, port agents, marine service providers, and other operational vendors.
- Track and optimize operational costs, ensuring efficiency in vessel turnaround and resource utilization.
- Support claims handling and vendor performance reviews (indirect involvement).
- Work closely with internal project logistics teams, commercial teams, and external vendors.
- Provide operational reporting to internal and external stakeholders including noon day reports, bunker consumption, port movements.
- Maintain professional communication with customers as needed, providing operational updates and exception escalation.
What we would like you to bring
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in vessel operations within shipping, marine agency, EPC/project logistics, or heavy-lift operations.
- Proven experience handling multipurpose vessels, LCT operations, breakbulk cargo, and OOG/heavy-lift shipments.
- Skilled in port operations planning, stevedoring coordination, and marine logistics workflows.
- Strong understanding of:
- Marine operations and port regulations
- Cargo declaration processes
- Vessel scheduling and voyage management
- Basic chartering knowledge is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience using voyage management systems/software.
