Job Description
IS Project Manager

It's more than a job

As part of the Contract Logistics team at Kuehne+Nagel, you will play a key role in designing, managing, and optimizing solutions that keep goods moving efficiently. Whether you’re leading a team, engineering processes, or driving projects, your work ensures that our customers’ products are stored, handled, and delivered with precision. From everyday essentials to seasonal items, what we do in Contract Logistics impacts businesses and communities around the world. At Kuehne+Nagel, your contribution goes far beyond the warehouse—it helps shape the flow of global trade.

As we look to build on the success of an established position, we're seeking a talented Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of Information Systems projects across the business. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, drive meaningful change, and establish best-in-class project delivery standards. If you thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy turning complex challenges into successful outcomes, we'd love to hear from you.

How you create impact

  • Lead the successful delivery of Information Systems projects, ensuring alignment with Kuehne+Nagel policies, standards, budgets, timelines, and quality expectations.
  • Develop and maintain key project documentation, including Project Initiation Documents (PIDs), delivery plans, stage gate collateral, and status reports.
  • Build and coordinate cross-functional project teams, clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Establish and manage project plans, tracking progress against agreed milestones and taking corrective action where required to ensure successful delivery.
  • Manage project budgets, resource utilisation, and financial tracking, ensuring project costs are accurately recorded and controlled.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues through effective governance, contingency planning, and proactive stakeholder communication.
  • Govern project scope and change requests, evaluating impacts on budget, timelines, and deliverables while ensuring adherence to formal change control processes.
  • Facilitate project meetings, steering group updates, and stage gate reviews, maintaining complete audit-ready project records and ensuring compliance with KN IS standards.

What we would like you to bring

  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering projects within an IT Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) environment.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies, with PRINCE2, APM and ITIL experience or qualifications considered advantageous.
  • Ability to align projects with wider business strategy, managing dependencies, priorities, and interrelated initiatives.
  • Experience in resource planning and management across multiple projects, ensuring effective utilisation and delivery.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to gather, interpret, and translate business requirements into practical solutions, including cost estimation.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to gain commitment at all levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience developing teams, motivating colleagues, and driving successful project outcomes.
  • Strong project governance skills, including the ability to identify and manage critical paths, risks, and project interdependencies, with flexibility to travel throughout the UK as required.
