It's more than a job
As part of the HR team at Kuehne+Nagel, you will help build careers, nurture talent, and empower people to succeed. Your work doesn’t stop at HR - it drives the entire supply chain forward. By attracting and developing the right people, you ensure that our operations run smoothly, so medical equipment reaches hospitals on time, toys arrive in stores for the holidays, and fresh flowers make it to local florists. Every great logistics solution starts with great people - and that’s where you come in.
As an Integration Engineer, you will keep the integrations between our IT applications running reliably and continuously improve them. Your main focus is the support, maintenance, and incremental enhancement of our existing integration landscape — making sure data flows correctly between systems every day, resolving issues when they occur, and implementing the smaller changes that business units request over time.
You will work with established integration products and proven patterns rather than designing new platforms from scratch, and you will contribute to new integration projects led by the team.
This role is a strong entry point into our integration landscape: many colleagues move from maintenance into project delivery and solution design as they build up system knowledge. It suits someone who enjoys understanding how systems fit together, likes solving concrete problems, and takes pride in a landscape that simply works. You will be part of a dynamic international team with close contact to both IT and Business.
How you create impact
• Keep our productive integrations running — monitor scheduled jobs and data flows, investigate failures, perform root-cause analysis, and restore service within agreed response times.
• Implement small to medium enhancements to existing integrations: new fields and mappings, adjusted business rules, SQL and transformation tuning, and better error handling, logging, and alerting.
• Take requests from business units and IT colleagues, clarify what is actually needed, and advise on what the existing solution can already do before anything new is built.
• Test and document your changes, and verify they worked in production — so that the next person, including you in six months, can understand and maintain them.
• Set up and troubleshoot technical connectivity with partners and customers to keep secure data exchange working.
• Translate logical mapping instructions into working configurations and scripts.
• Spot recurring issues and manual workarounds, and improve them so the same problem does not come back.
• Provide 3rd-level support and consulting on existing systems, and contribute to new integration projects led by the team.
What we would like you to bring
• 2+ years of experience with Python development or scripting, and solid working knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL — you can read, write, and optimize SQL queries.
• Comfort working in an existing codebase: reading code you did not write, debugging it, and making safe, incremental changes.
• A structured and pragmatic approach to troubleshooting — you narrow a problem down methodically instead of guessing.
• Willingness to test your changes properly, document them, and confirm the result in production — we will show you our pipelines and processes.
• Experience with version control systems like GIT.
• Degree in Information Technology or a related field, or comparable practical experience — we care more about what you can do than how you learned it.
• Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
• Reliability and a service-minded attitude — business colleagues depend on these interfaces every day.
Nice to have — not expected on day one:
• Knowledge of dbt (data build tool) for building and maintaining SQL transformation models is a huge plus.
• Basic familiarity with AWS infrastructure, message-driven APIs, or the KAFKA protocol
