The Customer Onboarding Engineer plays a crucial role in the onboarding of new customers. This position is responsible for defining processes for Operations in alignment with the customer’s sales & operations planning processes and the Kuehne Nagel Blueprint. With strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving, the Engineers collaborates with customers, Operations, technical team members and the finance organisation to drive seamless customer onboarding and process optimization.
How you create impact
- Create processes which will serve our customer’s logistics processes but also our operational standards and Blueprint
- Ensure process changes align with business objectives (such as Productivity) and the assumed sales cost driver model productivity
- Highlight any process deviations which are not in line with our business objectives
- Clearly articulate requirements and explain complex processes to customers, operations, technical team members and cross-functional teams
- Identify potential roadblocks in customer onboarding and proactively develop solutions to mitigate risks
- Document and analyze customer requirements meticulously, ensuring solutions are adaptable across diverse environments
- Evaluate customer demands critically, challenge inefficient requests, and recommend solutions that support long-term operational goals
- Facilitate client workshops, providing clear explanations of our standard processes and ensuring customer expectations are aligned
- Create financial process flows for Freight Audit and Payment which are in line with Kuehne + Nagel’s accounting and controlling guidelines
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth onboarding experience and timely decision-making

- Proven experience in logistics process analysis and financial controlling or accounting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical and operational concepts effectively
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential challenges
- Detail-oriented mindset with a meticulous approach to documentation and process configuration
- Ability to critically assess and optimize customer requirements for long-term success
- Experience in leading client workshops and coordinating across multiple teams
- Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills
