The National Sea Logistics Trade Lane Manager - Import plays a critical role in driving import trade lane performance, business growth, and profitability across the Sea Logistics organization. Working closely with Sales, Pricing, Operations, and global stakeholders, this position is responsible for developing and executing trade lane strategies, leading procurement and pricing initiatives, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering customer-centric logistics solutions.
The role serves as a key connector across internal and external stakeholders, ensuring sustainable volume growth, operational excellence, and long-term customer success.
How you create impact
- Develop and execute import trade lane strategies to drive profitable growth, increase market share, and strengthen Kuehne+Nagel's competitive positioning.
- Lead commercial initiatives across targeted trade lanes by identifying business opportunities, supporting customer acquisition, and driving pipeline conversion.
- Coordinate RFQs, pricing activities, and procurement strategies in close collaboration with Sales, Pricing, Trade Management, and global stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with customers, carrier partners, and internal stakeholders to support business development and long-term growth objectives.
- Analyse market trends, carrier developments, and supply chain dynamics to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with Operations and Solution Design teams to develop scalable, customer-focused end-to-end logistics solutions.
- Monitor and manage trade lane performance, including volume growth, profitability, retention, and business development targets.
- Act as a key point of coordination between national and global teams to ensure alignment, service excellence, and successful opportunity execution.
- Drive post-sales implementation and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize customer value and long-term business success.
- Contribute to a high-performance culture through knowledge sharing, stakeholder engagement, and support for team development initiatives.
What we would like you to bring
- Experience in Sea Logistics with a solid understanding of import trade lanes and freight forwarding operations.
- Strong commercial mindset with a proven ability to identify opportunities and drive business growth.
- Experience managing RFQs/RFPs, pricing activities, and customer negotiations.
- Good understanding of market trends and the ability to turn insights into practical business actions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships internally and externally.
- A structured approach to pipeline management, forecasting, and performance tracking.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Experience in carrier management and allocation management is a plus.
