Job Description
Sea Logistics Customer Care Specialist

It's more than a job

When you work in Freight Logistics and Operations at Kuehne+Nagel, you play a key role in optimising processes and ensuring that inventory and shipments move efficiently. But that is not all. Your work also helps ensure that vital medicines reach patients on time and supports other essential deliveries, from wind turbines to semiconductors. At Kuehne+Nagel, our contribution counts in more ways than we imagine.

How you create impact

The Sea Logistics Customer Care Specialist is a key contributor to delivering operational excellence and an exceptional customer experience. In this role, you will coordinate essential transport activities within the Operational Care Center (OCC)—including carrier bookings, data entry, documentation preparation, and compliance with sea freight regulations and national protocols. Beyond operational execution, you will serve as a trusted partner to customers by providing accurate information, resolving inquiries, and collaborating closely with the Customer Care team to meet service expectations. As the account owner for a personal portfolio of house accounts, you will nurture strong relationships, drive engagement, and ensure a seamless end‑to‑end customer journey. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced logistics environment, enjoys problem‑solving, and is committed to delivering reliable, high‑quality service.

  • Provide timely and accurate information to customers and ensure all interactions are logged in the CRM system (CoreLog)
  • Maintain regular communication with existing customers and handle all email inquiries as KN Service Moments cases
  • Manage bookings with carriers, complete data entry, and prepare all required documentation
  • Support customer engagement, satisfaction, retention, and reactivation in close cooperation with Field Sales and the Operational Care Center (OCC)
  • Complete Customer Profiles (CP), Business Profiles, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) following initial customer meetings
  • Identify financial risks and collaborate with stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies that protect customer profitability
  • Monitor overdue accounts receivable, communicate with customers, and minimize exposure to bad debt
  • Deliver performance against all financial targets and strategic objectives
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing with a minimum of 95% invoice quality
  • Minimize deferrals and apply appropriate Deferral & Loss Codes
  • Monitor customer profitability and maximize Gross Profit (GP) at the account level
  • Help define and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and address performance issues as needed
  • Develop risk management and contingency plans to support operational continuity
  • Use KPI dashboards—including the CCL Dashboard—to monitor exceptions, control quality, and identify process improvement opportunities
  • Analyze KPI reports to drive performance improvements
  • Ensure cost‑efficient supplier selection
  • Collaborate with process and systems teams to improve workflows and reduce waste
  • Participate in ongoing training programs to maintain and enhance skills
