It's more than a job
In this IT role, you will manage, develop, and support the technology infrastructure that powers Kuehne+Nagel’s global systems and operations. This contribution is vital to making both special and ordinary moments in the lives of people a reality. In fact, your work enables our teams to deliver fresh fruit, time-sensitive healthcare products and much more to people all around the world. Working in IT at Kuehne+Nagel contributes to more than we imagine.
As a Data Engineer (m/f/d), you will guide the use of infrastructure, tools, and processes to help our global analytics and operations teams share and leverage data efficiently across the company. If you are passionate about modern data architecture and eager to shape the future of logistics, this could be the ideal next step in your career.
How you create impact
- Build and operate the data platform with full end-to-end ownership.
- Develop and maintain guidelines, operational practices, and blueprints for modern data processing and transformation tools.
- Support data products throughout their entire lifecycle — from ideation and specification to architecture, prototyping, and integration into production systems.
- Continuously improve our technology landscape by evaluating and adopting new tools and technologies.
- Provide and maintain reusable infrastructure templates for data product teams.
What we would like you to bring
- Extensive hands-on experience with big data architectures in enterprise environments, along with the associated systems and tools (Snowflake is a plus).
- Experience working with Spark Structured Streaming and real-time data processing.
- Background in building data pipelines that use both relational and NoSQL databases in distributed environments.
- Practical experience with at least one cloud provider (ideally AWS).
- Familiarity with technologies such as PySpark, Apache Kafka, Snowflake, GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, AWS services (e.g., networking, EMR, S3), Dagster, and dbt.
- A mindset focused on building solutions that avoid reinventing the wheel and can serve as reusable blueprints for future challenges.
- Enjoy working collaboratively in international teams.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
