The Collection Manager plays a key role in ensuring timely debt recovery to maintain healthy cash flow, while minimizing financial risk by reducing overdue accounts and bad debt. The Manager fosters a positive and inclusive team culture, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and company values. In addition to overseeing day-to-day receivables operations, the role involves developing and implementing effective collection strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve payment issues, and ensuring compliance with internal policies. The Manager also provides leadership in performance monitoring, process improvement, and reporting to support strategic financial decision-making.

 

How you create impact

Strategic Oversight
•    Develop and implement effective strategies to maximize cash collections.
•    Set departmental goals and KPIs for collections performance.
•    Analyze collection metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement. 

Team Leadership
•    Recruit, train, and manage a team of Receivables Specialists, fostering a collaborative and accountable work environment.
•    Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback, coaching team members to achieve development and business goals.
•    Mentor staff by identifying growth opportunities, supporting career development, and cultivating future leaders within the team.
•    Facilitate ongoing learning through workshops, one-on-one sessions, and peer knowledge sharing.
•    Ensure staff adhere to company policies, ethical standards, and legal guidelines while promoting a culture of integrity and continuous improvement.

Operational Management
•    Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and prioritize collection efforts. 
•    Oversee the utilization of collections software and tools such as Highradius, to maximize performance.
•    Monitor the quality, performance, and utilization of the Dispute Management Tool 

Customer Interaction
•    Communicate with customers to resolve billing issues and negotiate payment plans. 
•    Handle escalated disputes and complaints professionally.
•    Maintain positive relationships to encourage future compliance.

Compliance & Reporting
•    Ensure adherence to global accounting, finance, and trade receivable policies.
•    Regularly review and comply with the established Rules of Engagement.
•    Conduct periodic audits of collection practices to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
•    Prepare and present detailed reports on collection activities, performance metrics, and risk indicators to country stakeholders.
•    Monitor accounts receivable volumes and aging trends to ensure staffing levels remain aligned with operational demands and within approved budget.
•    Review full-time equivalent (FTE) headcount regularly to maintain budget compliance and optimize resource allocation.
•    Regularly track and analyze receivables portfolio volumes to ensure they remain consistent with approved guidelines for each business segment, taking corrective action where necessary.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
•    Work with finance, sales, and customer service teams to resolve payment-related issues.
•    Coordinate with third-party collection agencies when necessary.
•    Collaborate with the Credit Risk Team on debt recovery cases involving legal team and our insurance provider. 

 

What we would like you to bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum of 4 years working experience in Collections Department setting
  • Minimum 2 years in management role
  • Fluency in English ( written and spoken )
  • Organized, detail-oriented, hands-on, and a team player
  • Strong personal drive and ability to think in different ways about a single challenge
  • Ability to follow through from beginning to end 
  • Excellent communications skills both written and oral.
