GS Customs Team Leader-UK

Role

To manage the preparation and execution of customs clearance declarations being created by the customs brokers on behalf of internal stakeholders within the Kuehne + Nagel network. The Team Lead should ensure that the declarations are both compliant and accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures agreed, and also adhering to all government regulatory requirements.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation and execution of import and export declarations according to customs regulations, laws, and procedures within the stakeholder country
  • Organise and delegate the workflow and tasks to the team in alignment with the departmental and stakeholder requirements and goals
  • Manage and review reports to track team and departmental performance
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and concerns
  • Communicates regularly with stakeholder as to productivity and quality performance and resolves challenges efficiently and effectively
  • Ability and willingness to take ownership for resolution of enquiries and complaints from stakeholder
  • Performs daily quality checks to ensure high level of work quality and productivity
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support career development
  • Assists in the training of new hires and ad-hoc system or customs topics where needed
  • Understands new tasks and functions that are introduced and ensures instructions are understood by the team
  • Engages in the daily stand up/stand down meetings with the team
  • Develops and implements new systems and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in conjunction with support functions for continuous improvement

Your Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration
  • Managerial Experience
  • Fluency in English -both Verbal & Written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Customer Focus
  • Organisational skills
  • Driving continuous improvement
  • Ability to work with demanding deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Task oriented
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • At least 3 years' experience in a similar position in the past
  • Preferable to have operational knowledge of either airfreight, sea freight or road freight
