Kuehne + Nagel Romania is looking for a motivated and dynamic FTL - LTL International Freight Forwarder for our office from Bucharest.
YOUR ROLE
You will manage and develop the international Overland (FTL/LTL) transport business, ensuring operational excellence, service quality, and high customer satisfaction.
In this role, you will oversee daily transport operations in line with Kuehne+Nagel guidelines, drive business growth, expand the customer portfolio, improve profitability, and ensure compliance with internal procedures, industry regulations, and company standards.
How you create impact
- Perform daily Road Freight activities in full compliance with KN procedures, processes, and customer requirements.
- Monitor shipments end-to-end, ensuring timely and damage‑free delivery.
- Keep customers proactively informed throughout the transport lifecycle.
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of all data into operational systems.
- Use problem‑solving tools to address operational issues and implement corrective actions.
- Respond to quotation requests within agreed timelines and internal guidelines.
- Prepare spot rates, evaluate transport feasibility, and provide competitive solutions.
- Manage the profit & loss performance for assigned transports.
- Identify opportunities to reduce transport costs and improve margins through optimization and consolidation.
- Offer recommendations for performance improvement when deviations from targets occur.
- Negotiate with subcontractors in accordance with K+N guidelines.
- Build, maintain, and optimize the subcontractor database.
- Ensure strong operational collaboration and performance across the carrier network.
- Ensure accurate system input for all transport‑related data and activities.
- Complete customer invoicing in line with company standards.
- Monitor the collection status of issued invoices and support follow-up actions as required.
- Support the development and implementation of business operations tools and reporting systems.
- Deliver excellent customer service and take full ownership of assigned customers.
- Identify new business opportunities through monitoring market trends and competitor activities.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality, efficiency, and profitability.
What we would like you to bring
- Minimum 3 years of experience in freight forwarding operations with a strong focus on FTL/LTL Road Freight.
- Solid knowledge of transport regulations and customs compliance.
- Experience with carrier invoicing, billing procedures, and financial follow-up.
- Technical understanding of expediting processes and overall transport operations.
- Customer‑oriented approach, committed to quality and service excellence.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to adapt tone and message to the audience.
- Strategic mindset combined with a proactive, self‑starter attitude.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to implement corrective actions effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and act with urgency and accuracy.
- Good English skills; knowledge of another European language is considered an advantage.
