Kuehne+Nagel is seeking a motivated and results-driven Carrier Sales Representative to join our growing U.S. Road Logistics team in Chicago. In this role, you will serve as a key connection between our customer freight and carrier network, sourcing transportation capacity, negotiating competitive rates, and ensuring successful execution of truckload shipments across North America.

You'll work closely with operations, pricing, and sales teams to secure capacity, maximize profitability, and deliver exceptional service throughout the transportation lifecycle.
How you create impact
- Source and secure truckload carrier capacity for customer freight across North America.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers to drive long-term partnership and repeat business.
- Negotiate competitive transportation rates while balancing profitability and service excellence.
- Manage daily freight execution and carrier assignment for designated regions and transportation lanes.
- Monitor shipments from pickup through delivery and proactively resolve service disruptions or delays.
- Collaborate with internal sales, operations, and account management teams to align carrier solutions with customer needs.
- Expand carrier coverage and identify new carrier partners within strategic markets and lanes.
- Utilize market trends and lane data to support carrier selection and cost optimization strategies.
- Ensure carriers meet insurance, safety, and compliance requirements before assignment.
- Maintain accurate transportation management system (TMS) records, load statuses, and carrier information.
- Manage multiple shipments simultaneously in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
- Deliver operational excellence through detailed load management and proactive communication.
- Support team performance goals by balancing cost, capacity, and service metrics.
- Build a trusted network of carriers capable of supporting evolving customer requirements.
What we would like you to bring
- 1+ years of experience in carrier sales, freight brokerage, transportation brokerage, or domestic truckload operations preferred.
- Strong understanding of the North American domestic truckload market and carrier procurement process.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate rates and build productive carrier relationships.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience using transportation management systems (TMS), DAT, Parade, Macropoint, or similar logistics platforms is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business applications preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred; motivated early-career professionals with strong interest in transportation and logistics are encouraged to apply.

Base salary is part of a competitive total rewards package that includes health and welfare benefits, a 401k retirement savings plan, tuition reimbursement, and incentive compensation for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, skills, job location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
