National Project Logistics Manager

Project Logistics is an evolving stream within KN NZ, and we’re looking for a National Project Logistics Manager to take the lead in growing and developing this function in New Zealand!

Reporting directly to the Managing Director for New Zealand, this exciting position provides an opportunity to elevate KN NZ’s projects presence within the market, through establishing key relationships, building a strong project pipeline and the successful execution of large, complex projects.

How you create impact

This role is built around four key pillars:

Business and Product Development

  • Develop a Project Logistics strategy and plan for KN NZ that drives growth for KN NZ

  • Identify business development opportunities and establish a pipeline for Project Logistics in New Zealand

  • Build KN NZ’s profile in the New Zealand project logistics market, including successful execution of large,   complex projects

  • Ensure an up to date and comprehensive understanding of market and industry trends

  • Implement the Global Project Logistics strategy as applicable

Profit Development

  • Own the P&L responsibility of the Project Logistics function

  • Ensure customer profitability and cost management

  •  Set GP/margin strategy in cooperation with the pricing and leadership teams, ensuring year on year GP growth

Operational Excellence

  • Manage regular project movements from start to end, ensuring exceptional customer service and customer   specific KPI’s are met

  • Liaise with local and overseas KN stations and agents to facilitate the movement and successful completion   of projects

  • Oversee all sub-contract management and ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures and   regulatory requirements

  • Ensure CRM tool usage is accurate and updated regularly

Leadership and Development

  • Foster collaboration and alignment with internal and external stakeholders

  • Build long term and effective relationships within the KN Global Project Logistics network

  • Build a long-term succession plan, including identifying and growing talent to ensure the future success of   KN NZ’s project logistics team

What we would like you to bring

  • In depth understanding and experience within the NZ Project Logistics market

  • Experience in managing complex projects, end-to-end

  • Previous success in P&L management

  • Proven success managing oversized cargo in remote locations and delivering against tight   delivery schedules and limited budgets

  • In-depth understanding of Health & Safety requirements in relation to complex projects

  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills

  • A passion for dealing with customers and solving complex, time-critical problems

  • Ability to deliver results under pressure and to tight deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

  • A team player, coupled with the ability to collaborate across the organisation 

  • A positive work ethic, attitude and someone who has a passion for customer excellence
