It's more than a job
As a member of the Freight Forwarding team Kuehne+Nagel, you will play a key role in transporting goods, optimising processes, and fulfilling our customers' promises. And by transporting medicines, toys and important machine parts, you are not only delivering goods, you are making small and big moments possible for people all around the world. At Kuehne+Nagel, our contribution counts in more ways than we imagine.
Somewhere over an ocean, a pallet of time-sensitive cargo is on its way to a customer who is counting on it. Behind that flight sits a booking, a carrier, a routing, and a person who made sure every piece fell into place. That person could be you.
At Kuehne+Nagel, our Operational Care Specialists are the people who make air freight feel effortless. You’re the calm centre of the storm, coordinating bookings with carriers, partners and gateways, preparing the right documentation, and keeping a close eye on every shipment from the moment it’s booked to the moment it lands.
Responsibilities
- You start by checking what’s moving, what’s due, and what needs a nudge. Nothing sits overdue on your watch.
- When a shipment goes off-script (a delay, a routing conflict, a rate that doesn’t add up), you’re the first to spot it, and the first to fix it. You clarify instructions, resolve discrepancies, and flag anything bigger to your team leader straight away.
- You work hand in hand with Customer Care to make sure customer requirements like transit times, carrier choice and routings are met.
- You secure buy rates and capacity with qualified carriers and our KN gateways, always with an eye on cost and profitability.
- You keep our systems up to date so everyone has clear visibility, including the financial details.
- You hold carriers and partners to their commitments, and speak up when they don’t deliver.
- You help shape how we work, partnering with our Optimization Team to cut manual steps and get more from our systems, and supporting Sales and Customer Care to make new customer accounts start smoothly.
Requirements
- You bring a “can do” attitude and a genuine service mindset.
- You’re detail-obsessed in the best way and stay steady when the pressure rises.
- You communicate clearly, coordinate easily, and love a well-organised plan.
- You respect the rules. Air freight regulations and industry guidelines matter to you.
- You have air freight knowledge, and ideally 0–2 years in air logistics or freight forwarding. Starting out? We’d still love to hear from you.
- A vocational course, apprenticeship, or diploma in freight forwarding or logistics is preferred.
- You’re fluent in the local language and have intermediate English.
- You’re strong in analytical and organising skills, teamwork, time management and problem solving.
