Air Logistics Operational Care Specialist

The Operational Care Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely coordination of shipments while meeting customer transit time requirements. As part of the Operational Care Centers team, this role manages transport activities by arranging bookings with partners and gateways, preparing all required documentation, and monitoring shipments end‑to‑end, including handling any deviations.
The position works closely with Customer Care Specialists to ensure all customer-specific requirements—such as transit times, carrier selection, and routing—are fully met. Securing competitive buy rates (when needed) and ensuring capacity with qualified carriers, partners, or Kuehne+Nagel gateways is a key responsibility.
All activities must be carried out in compliance with air transport regulations, industry and product standards,company guidelines, and operational procedures, using company operational systems.

How you create impact

 

  • Execute all operational activities accurately, reliably, and on time, minimizing overdue tasks and meeting defined customer deliverables.
  • Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders by following established communication guidelines.
  • Monitor shipments end‑to‑end, manage all deviations, and ensure timely and accurate updates in compnay systems, including visibility of financial data such as costs.
  • Review and validate CCL instructions, resolving conflicts related to regulatory requirements, routing, transit times, rates, or other discrepancies.
  • Escalate operational issues immediately by reporting problems, disputes, or irregularities to supervisors or managers.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners—including suppliers, gateways, warehouses, customs teams, the RCC, and other stakeholders—to ensure smooth operational execution.
  • Monitor carrier and partner performance, escalating or raising awareness when service levels or commitments are not met.
  • Support process optimization and profitability, working with the Optimization Team to enhance system utilization, reduce manual work, improve processes, and ensure smooth account implementation with Sales and Customer Care teams.

  • Experience in logistics or freight forwarding operations.
  • Knowledge of transport regulations, routing, transit times, and carrier processes.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to use operational systems and update data accurately.
  • Problem‑solving skills and ability to handle deviations effectively.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to support process improvements and system optimization.
  • Customer‑focused mindset and ability to work with Sales and Customer Care teams.
  • Good command of English, both written and spoken.
