How you create impact
- Operate company vehicle in a safe and professional manner.
- Immediately report any negative incidents with other drivers, accidents and customers to Dispatcher or Dispatch Manager.
- Load and unload shipments between various destinations as assigned.
- Prepares, receives and provides appropriate documentation for delivery or pick up to ensure timely and accurate transportation.
- Responsible for vehicle care, cleanliness and required equipment in each vehicle.
- Follow instructions and pre-established guidelines and procedures.
- Maintain a valid drivers license.
- Ensure shipments are checked in by Dispatcher or Shipping staff when arriving at Base.
- Maintain legible detailed accurate manifests and run sheets.
- Turn in paperwork at the end of your shift or as dictated.
- Ensure vehicle is locked and secure at all times during the shift.
- Check-in periodically with Dispatcher to report location and status.
- Maintain clean and professional appearance at all times and follow all current security regulations and policies.
- To perform any department specific functions as defined by the management team.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties/responsibilities at the request of the management team.
What we would like you to bring
- Valid driver's license.
- Problem-solving and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Adherance to company policies and procedures.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays.
- Possess and maintain Forklift certification
- Possess and maintain function specific dangerous goods (DG) certification.
- May be required to frequently lift and/or move packages weighing up to 25 LBS throughout a given shift, and to occasionally lift and/or move packages weighing up to 70 LBS.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to walk; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; balance & stoop to lift packages – including lifting packages from the floor over their head.
- Adept in operating a pallet jack and forklift.
- Customer Service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Dangerous Goods/Restricted Article Regulations preferred.
